Digis Explained

As a model, it is essential to have a portfolio of retouched, professional photos. However, in addition to this, you must also have a set of recent, unedited digital photos (known as digis) that you can use to promote yourself. Whether you are taking your first set of digis or simply refreshing your existing ones, make sure you follow the points below to make the most of your session.

What?

A Digi Session is a shoot organised for you to be photographed in a studio in order to capture clean, unedited natural images that represent yourself.

Why?

Sometimes when a client is time poor, or interstate/international and they cannot meet with you in person they’ll require photographs of you. The real you, natural images that give an accurate representation of yourself that can be view alongside your portfolio to either assist prior selections for casting or to replace the casting process entirely.

Wear?

The best clothing for you to bring on the day are clothes that show the figure and are flattering. Most model agencies will require you to wear all black.

  • Skinny black jeans with a black singlet or t-shirt

  • A plain black swim or underwear look

Hair & Makeup?

Come with clean hair and a clean face, if you have long hair please bring something to tie your hair back with.

Shots?

You want to get a head shot, a half body shot, a full body shot, and a side on 'profile' shot, with a mixture of smiling and serious facial expressions. Take some photos with your hair up, others with your hair down.

Posing?

Avoid posing for your digis. Remember, natural is best! For your closeups take some smiling and some with neutral expressions to show a little bit of variety in your natural looks. In the full body shots there is no need to pose but a little bit of personality can go a long way.

How long?

The session will take around 10-15 minutes. If you are running late or cannot make your scheduled time please let us know as digi sessions are often scheduled back-to-back.

Tips

The most important thing to remember is to relax and be yourself. Have fun!
